TOURISM EXPERIENCES are part-day trips offered in partnership with the local communities. When you take part in a Tourism Experience you’ll have a fantastic experience as you get to know amazing stories, genuine characters and take part into a Adventure Week.
Some happiness secrets can be in the simple lives of these sea men. Take part in an authentic homemade fishery. Fishermen from the traditional community of Pantano do Sul will show you the “pescaria de cerco” (enclosure fishery), pull and check the fishing nets as well as gather up the fishes on board. Typical lunch is included.

Reception at the “Pântano do Sul” beach. Introduction to the fisherman. Brief explanation about the project “Estrelas do Mar”, the boat ride, the types of traditional fishing, and the safety equipment.
Boarding on a typical fisherman boat. Inspection and explanations about the “pescaria de cerco” (enclosure fishery). Release the fishing net in the water. Inspection of the nets in the bay and around the Island, departure and fish sorting. Boat ride on the Pantano do Sul Bay. Stop to swim (upon the traveler’s wish). During the course the fisherman will share a little of their lives and experience.
Arrival at the beach. Lunch included in a typical Pantano do Sul restaurant with, rice, beans, salad and fishes (drinks are not included).
Obs. The project “Estrelas do Mar” is developed by the “Instituto Ilhas do Brasil”. It is an innovative job giving support to the traditional communities that live in coast areas. In this project the young people coordinate and take part in several activities connected to nature preservation and community tourism. This project won the JP Morgan Awards “Fundo de Aprendizagem Inovadora”, and it was one of the finalists of the Volvo Adventure Award, who analyzed more than 350 projects focused on young people, throughout the world.
